Hello Reader!
June often feels like a season of transition.
The days are longer. Calendars fill up. School is ending, vacations are being planned, and many of us find ourselves juggling even more than usual.
It's easy to tell ourselves we'll slow down later.
After this event. After this project. After summer.
But what if caring for yourself didn't have to wait?
A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of hosting five wonderful women for a self-care retreat. We spent time slowing down, reconnecting, learning, laughing, and simply being present.
When I asked participants about the highlight of the retreat, one woman shared:
"Unplugging and connecting with great friends; (re)learning so many easy, manageable, digestible tips, tricks, and habits to incorporate into everyday life."
I love that response because it reinforces something I see often in my coaching work:
Self-care doesn't have to be complicated.
Most of us don't need another lengthy to-do list.
We need simple practices that fit into real life and help us feel more like ourselves again.
What Happens When We Ignore Our Own Needs?
Sometimes the signs are subtle.
- You feel more irritable than usual.
- You find yourself reaching for caffeine, sugar, or scrolling just to get through the day.
- You have trouble focusing.
- You feel exhausted, yet struggle to truly rest.
- You begin moving through your days on autopilot.
These can all be signs that your body and mind are asking for support.
The good news? Small shifts can make a meaningful difference.
Practical Tips to Protect Your Energy and Care for Yourself
✨ Set Gentle Boundaries
Every "yes" costs something.
Before automatically agreeing to another commitment, pause and ask yourself:
"Do I have the time, energy, and desire for this right now?"
Sometimes the most supportive answer is "not today."
✨ Create Small Moments of Pause
Self-care doesn't require a weekend away.
Take a few deep breaths before walking into a meeting.
Sit outside with your morning tea.
Spend five minutes journaling before bed.
Small pauses throughout the day help regulate your nervous system and build stress resilience over time.
✨ Prioritize Sleep
Sleep is one of the most overlooked forms of self-care.
When you're well-rested, you're better able to think clearly, regulate emotions, make nourishing choices, and respond to challenges with intention instead of reactivity.
✨ Nourish Yourself Consistently
What you put into your body directly affects how it responds.
Aim for regular meals, adequate hydration, and foods that leave you feeling energized rather than depleted.
✨ Move in Ways That Feel Good
Movement doesn't have to mean an intense workout.
A walk after dinner.
Gentle stretching.
A yoga class.
Time spent outdoors.
Movement can improve mood, reduce stress, and reconnect you with your body.
✨ Stay Connected
We are not meant to do everything alone.
Reach out to a friend.
Spend time with people who leave you feeling supported and energized.
Connection is one of the most powerful forms of self-care we have.
Wishing you a June filled with moments of rest, connection, and renewed energy.
Be Well, Tracy
P.S. If you're thinking, "I don't have time for self-care," you're exactly who I wrote this for.
Self-care doesn't have to mean spa days, expensive programs, or hours of free time. Often, the most powerful changes come from small, intentional shifts that take just a few minutes each day.
How Coaching Can Support You
Many women know what they "should" be doing for themselves.
The challenge is figuring out how to make it work consistently within the realities of everyday life.
When we work together, I'll help you:
• Identify where your energy is being depleted
• Create simple self-care practices that fit your schedule and personality
• Build habits that support sleep, nourishment, movement, and stress resilience
• Set boundaries without guilt
• Create a sustainable approach to wellness that feels supportive rather than overwhelming
Because self-care isn't another thing to add to your list.
It's the foundation that allows you to show up for everything else.
